Darcye's Tealight Box

As well as loving Stampin' Up!, I also love Darcey's products. Darcey's is a fast-growing Scottish company selling soy wax melts - which is their flagship product - as well as soy wax candles, tealights, bath & body products, rollerball perfumes, aroma beads, reed diffusers and car diffusers (air fresheners).
All of these products are cruelty-free too! So it made sense to be an Ambassador and enjoy a discount while making my house smell gorgeous knowing that none of the products are tested on animals!
I also have my own team of lovely ladies, as well as my own Stampin' Up! team.

So I decided to make a little gift box to hold some of our soy wax (unscented) tealights to gift to a friend;

I used Soft Sea Foam cardstock for the box and the DSP is from the beautiful 'Garden Lane' 12x12 pack.
Then I stamped two daisies from the beautiful new 'Daisy Lane' stamp set using Soft Sea Foam ink and punched them out using the new Medium Daisy Punch. I offset the petals and stuck the daisies together using a Mini Glue Dot. I then added a Clear Faceted Gem to the centre of the daisy.

In my video tutorial click here, I changed it up a little bit and used Mossy Meadow cardstock for the box with a different sheet of DSP. I used Mossy meadow ink for the daisies.

I had the idea in my head to have the flap on the lid showing on the outside of the box rather than tucking it in and I think it works really well. The daisy helps to hold it in place. although you can easily add a Mini Glue Dot to the underside of the flap if you wish - just take care when opening it so as not to tear the DSP.

Instructions:
You'll need:
A piece of cardstock measuring 7" x 6" for the box

Pieces of DSP for the panels as follows:
Three pieces measuring 1&1/2" x 2&5/8"
Two pieces measuring 1&1/2" square

A scrap of Whisper White or Thick Whisper White cardstock to stamp the daisies

Score the cardstock on the long side at: 1/2", 2&1/8", 3&3/4" and 5&3/8"

Score on the short side at: 1&5/8" and 4&3/8"

Adhere the larger DSP panels to the front, top and back of the box (keeping any directional patterns true) and the smaller square panels to each side (again, keeping directional patterns true).

Add a Clear Faceted Gem to the centre of the daisy and add the daisy to the front of the box using a Dimensional. Then tuck the flap on the lid behind the daisy.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this project and I hope to see you again soon!

Watercolour Fairies using 'New Wonders' stamp set

I just love fairies and all things whimsical, so I'm so glad I got this stamp set!
I decided not only to step out of my 3-D comfort zone again and make a card, but also to break out my new watercolour pencils - I've always avoided 'colouring' of any kind in my crafting, although I love sitting with my adult colouring books and my glitter gel pens when I'm not crafting ……

This is a host stamp set, so can't be purchased from the Stampin' Up! catalogue - it can only be 'bought' by redeeming host credits. Ask me how you can earn host credits and how you can place orders using the host code over there in the side bar ↗
In fact, ask me how you can do that AND how you can get a thank you gift from me if you place an order!

I used my new watercolour pencils - the second set that Stampin' Up! introduced last year which I'm glad to see back in the new annual catalogue, and on one card I kept the colours very light and on the other I decided to go for a bolder look.
Which do you prefer? I'd love to hear what you think in the comments below!

I think I prefer the lighter colours - it's more fitting with the floaty, whimsical look of the stamp.

Here's the video tutorial to show you how I made my cards:

Thanks for dropping by and I hope to see you again very soon!

Take care,
Karen xxx

How to step up a simple project

Earlier today I posted today's 'Simple Sundays' project, which was quick and easy 3x3" notecards and I added a pizza-style box to store them in.
In the video tutorial I showed how you can step up a simple project in s couple of easy steps, from this …..

to this …..

to this …..

You can change a project so much just by adding a couple of little 'extras' but still not have to make it complicated.

Here's the video to show you how:

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I hope to see you again soon!

Simple Sundays #13 - Pizza Box with In-Colour 3x3 Notecards using Daisy Lane

I just love the new 2019-2021 In- Colours!
When I first saw them I thought they were a bit bland, but in reality they're amazing! We have Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile, Pretty Peacock, Seaside Spray and Purple Posy. It's hard to pick a favourite, but I think it's Seaside Spray closely followed by Purple Posy.

Unfortunately the Purple Posy ink pads are currently unavailable due to a quality issue (Stampin@ Up! will have nothing but 100% perfect for us all), but hopefully it'll be back with us very soon; so I can only show you a photo of the other four colours, but you'll see my Purple Posy ink in the video tutorial attached - yes, Simple Sundays will now be coming to you with a video tutorial!

For my cards and boxes, I used only Thick Whisper White cardstock, the In-Colours inks and a couple of sheets of the In-Colours cardstock.
I cut the Whisper White cardstock to 3 x 6" and scored at 3" for my notecards and stamped the daisy and the 'Smile' sentiment using the In-Colours inks and the gorgeous new Daisy Lane cling stamp set.
I stepped the daisies up a bit by using the Medium Daisy Punch which I'll come back to in an extra wee video later today.

For the pizza box, I cut a piece of cardstock to 8 & 3/4" by 4 & 3/4" and scored on the long side at 3/4" and 4" on both sides (or you could score at 3/4", 4", 4 & 3/4" and at 8"); then I scored on the short side at 3/4" on both sides (or you could score at 3/4" and 8").
I made the tabs by cutting into and wedging the six small squares on the long sides.
I added a thumb notch to the edge of the lid using my 1/2" circle punch.

Here's the video tutorial:

I hope you've enjoyed this post / tutorial - it's good to be back and I hope to see you again very soon!
