Simple Sundays #8 CASE the Catalogue - Daisy Delight

Hello again!

Away from the current Halloween and Christmas activity, I shared a 'CASE the Catalogue' project with my craft group last week which saw me looking back through our annual catalogue and rediscovering the Daisy Delight stamp set and co-ordinating Daisy punch.
I really love this set and I really don't use it enough - so today's crafting will be to make a set of these cards using one of our colour families: In-colours, Neutrals, Brights, Subtles or Regals. Maybe even all of them!

The card and products used can be found in the 'You can make it' feature on page 123 of the annual catalogue, but I've also included a list below too.

Using one of our ready-made Whisper White note cards and using only two ink colours (Sahara Sand and Old Olive), one stamp set and one punch, it's perfect for those who don't have, or don't want to use, a who;e array of products.

The masking technique was how the leaves were added, to make them look like they're peeking out from behind the daisy.

I'll share the outcome in another post during the week!

Happy crafting and pop back again soon!

Simple Sundays #8 Christmas gift box

Hello again! I'm a bit later in posting this, but at least it's still Sunday at the minute!

Today's project is a large gift box measuring 7 inches square and 2.5 inches deep - it'll hold lots of Christmas goodies.

It uses a piece of cardstock measuring 11 & 15/16 inches square (or 12x12 minus 1/16"!) for the base and a piece of Designer Series Paper measuring 12x12 inches for the lid.
The lid is reinforced for a neater finish around the edges.

For this box I've used products from the Santa's Workshop suite in the autumn / winter catalogue.
There's also no stamping involved - just cutting, scoring and sticking!

Here are the instructions:

Take a piece of 12x12" cardstock and trim two sides down by 1/16" to make it 11&15/16" square - it needs to be marginally smaller than the lid so that the lid fits snugly.
Alternatively, you can leave it as 12x12 and just use a shim when scoring - but you'll need to allow for the fact that this particular DSP is specialty paper and is quite thick. You also need to remember to allow for the flocking if using the same sheet of DSP as I've used.

Score the cardstock at 2.5 inches on all four sides. Fold and burnish all score lines well.
Cut flaps as you would for any similar box, but rotate 90 degrees each time, so that each side of your box only has one flap when glued together - this is really just my personal preference, as making two flaps on each of two opposing sides would also work; but I feel it's more symmetrical and looks neater when rotated each time when cutting.
Using a strong adhesive, assemble the base, ensuring a flush, square finish at each corner.

For the lid (remember to use a shim if both your base and lid were 12x12!), score all four sides at 1&1/4" and at 2&1/2".
Fold and burnish all score lines.
When cutting, remove the 'L' shape on each corner then create a flap as in the following photograph:

You're removing the three outermost squares.

Again, do this on each corner, rotating 90 degrees each time.

Add a strong double-sided adhesive tape to what is the RIGHT side of each small flap and then turn over to the WRONG side and add tape to the outer edge of each of the long sides. A double row of tape can be added if desired.

To assemble the lid, start by removing the backing of the tape on the small flaps and join together as you would for any box and press well with your bone folder to ensure they're all well stuck down.
The remaining edges are then folded in and stuck down one at a time to complete the reinforced lid. This last part is best done on a flat surface and one stuck down at a time.

Press firmly with your bone folder to ensure the folded edges are flat and straight and make sure you go into the corners of both the base and the lid to ensure the tape is well stuck at the corner folds.

You should now find that the lid fits easily but snugly on to the base.

I tied this box closed with the co-ordinating Poppy Parade 1/2" textured weave ribbon from the suite and the sentiment on the top is die-cut from cards from the Santa's Workshop Memories & More card pack using two sizes of the square dies from the Stitched Shapes framelits (from the annual catalogue).
I stuck them together using multipurpose liquid glue and attached them to my box using Dimensionals, which stick surprisingly well given that the DSP is flocked! That's one of the many things I love about Stampin' up! - everything works!

I hope you've liked this project and, as always, I've popped a product list below.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope to see you again very soon!

CASE the Catalogue!

Have you noticed how many fabulous projects feature in our Stampin' Up! catalogues?
Have you ever CASEd* one?

Today I'm sharing with you a Christmas card I've CASEd from the Autumn / Winter catalogue using the Santa's Workshop suite - it's on page 18.

Although I die-cut my little Santa from the Santa's Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper, as in the catalogue, I wanted him to be a bit more animated ....... so I used a mini action spring** to bring him to life!

The card base is one of the Santa's Workshop Memories & More cards, so no cutting and scoring was required. I only had to cut two pieces of DSP and a length of ribbon!

The Whisper White cardstock is die-cut using the largest square from the Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies (I used the Thick Whisper White).

The sentiment is stamped in Memento black ink using one of the stamps from the Signs of Santa stamp set.

If you buy both the stamp set and the dies together as a bundle, you'll save 10% on the price. The bundle can be found on page 19 of the catalogue and is the 'Signs of Santa' bundle.

I used Snail adhesive to adhere both pieces of DSP, but I used Dimensionals to raise the white cardstock up over the thickness of the two layers of DSP plus the double thickness of ribbon.

There's a list of products at the bottom of this post, if you want to create this card yourself - it's an easy, quick project but really cute!

Have a look at what else you can CASE from our current catalogues - they're bursting with inspiration!

There's also a 'Project ideas' section - have a look at it here.

*CASE = Copy And Share Everything

**mini action spring - this is a non-SU  product which I bought from Amazon. Use this link to take you directly to them.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing my wobbly Santa and I hope to be back with another project soon!

Simple Sundays #7 Envelope Punch Board Batty Box

Hi there! Welcome to this week's Simple Sundays project: a little envelope punch board box which holds a mini Ritter Sport chocolate perfectly.

I love making boxes and I love my envelope punch board - so today I've combined them again.

This little box measures only 5cm x 5cm x 0.8cm!

Here's how to make the it:

You'll need a piece of Basic Black cardstock measuring 10.4cm x 10.4cm.

Using your envelope punch board, on the first side punch and score at 4.6cm and then again at 5.8cm.
Turn to the remaining three sides in turn and, lining the previous score lines up with your score guide on your envelope punch board, punch and score again.
each side should be punched and scored twice once you've finished this stage.

Fold and burnish all score lines.

You'll see that you have four tiny squares in each corner - these need to be cut to make tabs for closing your box:

Add Tear & Tape to the bottom tabs only, as well as to each side of the bottom box flap and near the point of one of the side tabs and close box together.
Take care when sticking down the tiny tabs as they're very small!

Add your mini Ritter Sport and close remaining flap using a mini glue dot.
This side will be the back of your box.

Turn to the front and wrap a piece of Black 3/8" Glittered Organdy Ribbon around your box, fastening at the front using a mini glue dot.

Using the 'trick or treat' stamp from the Cauldron Bubble stamp set on to Whisper White cardstock using Gorgeous Grape ink and punch out using the 1" circle punch.
I used the tiny stars stamp in this set to stamp around the text - I stamped off twice before doing so.
Then cut a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock using the 1 and 1/8" scallop circle punch.
Stick your stamped sentiment to this using multi-purpose liquid glue.
Stick this to your ribbon, over the join, using Tear & Tape or other strong double-sided tape.

I then decorated mine with bats punched from the Toil and Trouble Designer Series Paper using the co-ordinating Spooky Bats Punch, stuck to the corners of the box using mini dimensionals.
For some added shimmer, I went over the bats with clear Wink of Stella.

It's an easy box and can be made in around 15 minutes.

Perfect as table favours or for treats at Halloween.

I hope you enjoyed this project and I look for ward to sharing another with you soon!
