This month, the template for our sketch was set by our Anna. It was certainly a challenge, but I had my idea come into my head much quicker than some previous projects!
I knew I wanted to have a Christmas theme for this one and I knew I wanted to incorporate gingerbread men, but that was it!
So, again, I decided to sit down, look at my cardstock and my Designer Series Paper, and let them tell me what today's end result was going to be.
This is the outcome - a gingerbread man Christmas note card!
I cheated a little bit with the 'oval' shape as I didn't want to use an oval punch with these sadly now being discontinued, so I thought that my gingerbread man punched out with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch was close enough!
The only bit I'm not sure about is that he ended up standing almost on another gingerbread man's head! But if you decide to 'go with the creative flow, these things happen 😄
For this notecard, I used one of Stampin' Up!'s ready-made notecards in Crumb Cake. These measure 5" x 3.25".
I added a mat using a sheet from the Candy Cane Lane DSP pack (as are all the DSP parts in this project). This was slightly smaller at 4.75" x 3.25"
I then cut the bottom piece of DSP using a very technical term and precise measuring technique called "make sure it's big enough to get all of that gingerbread man in"!
The two vertical strips of DSP both measure 3" x 1.25" and are simply overlapped and placed as per the template. No precise measuring was involved!
I stamped my gingerbread man - from the 'Cookie Cutter Christmas' photopolymer stamp set* - on to Crumb Cake cardstock using Crumb Cake ink and cut him out using the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch. I coloured his eyes using the Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker from the twin set on page 5 of the current Autumn-Winter Stampin' Up! catalogue (details in the product list below) and added a couple of the smallest Basic Pearls to highlight his buttons.
I stuck him to the card using Dimensionals to raise him up a bit and add that bit of dimension which I always like to have in my projects where possible.
* I ordered the Cookie Cutter stamp set and punch as a bundle, which is cheaper than buying these separately. Again, I'll add the items AND the bundle to the product list at the bottom.
The 'stars' in the top corner on my card are Basic Rhinestones to add that always-required bit of bling!
I hope you like this card and that you will carry on visiting all our other crafty friends at their blogs, using the buttons below.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge
Good morning folks! I'm delighted to be back after being away for a while due to pressures of work in my day job! It's good to see you all visiting again.

This month the sketch was designed by the lovely Sally Shaw of Sally's Stampers:
At first I could only imagine a card but I wanted to do something other than a card and with a 'Halloweeny' theme, so I came up with the idea of a Halloween goody bag using a Petite Cafe Gift Bag.
I then had no idea what I was going to do next! So I just decided to randomly construct the design using a combination of the 'Halloween Night' Designer Series Papers and the 'Pumpkin Pie' glimmer paper and this is what happened!
I wanted to have a witch featuring somewhere and the little witch from the 'Halloween Scenes' edgelit dies was perfect, cut out from the glimmer paper. I bought the 'Spooky Fun' Photopolymer Bundle which included the dies and the 'Spooky Fun' photopolymer stamp set.
It's the first time I've done a 'see what happens' project and I had no idea how it would end up, but I don't think it turned out too badly - it's still growing on me, though!
The fringe 'bow' is made using the 'Halloween Night' bakers twine and I used some of the 'Halloween Night' enamel dots along the fold at the top of the bag.
I raised the witch up a bit using a Dimentional and the circle of DSP she's sitting on is cut using the 1-3/8" circle punch.
I hope you like it and maybe I'll make some more bags for Halloween too ......
That's it from me today, but I'll leave you now to hop on to the next blog, which has Dee's lovely creation:
Or if you're travelling through the hop backwards, you'll click here to find something fab from our Keren:
Happy hopping and we'll see you all again soon! Have a lovely weekend.

Pootlers Design Team - August - Week 4
Well, that's us at week 4 of the Pootlers Design Team for August!
It's been great fun having the opportunity to take part and I've loved it! I've grown to really love the 'Lovely Stitching' stamp set and plan to keep using it regularly now.
My last project for this month is a thank you card:
The thank you sentiment is from the 'Thankful Thoughts' stamp set, but the rest of the surrounding stamping is from the 'Lovely Stitching' stamp set.
I decided to go back to the stippling effect that I used in week 1 to soften the background for the stamping.
I also wanted to make this card using only one colour as well as only one stamp set and I just hoped that it would work! I think it did .....
This is a tent fold card using Whisper White thick cardstock. I've cut it to 4 x 11", scoring and folding at 5-1/2" to make a card base which measures 4 x 5-12".
I then added a layer of Mint Macaron cardstock measuring 3-3/4 x 5-1/4".
Then came the Whisper White layer measuring 3-1/2 x 5" which I stippled with Mint Macaron ink using a sponge.
The stamping, using the stamp sets mentioned above, was also done in Mint Macaron on top of the stippling, which gives an additional effect. I wanted a combination of flowers and leaves and the design really just took shape after I'd decided which stamps I wanted to use.
This was an easy card to make and, despite being easy, I'm really pleased with the end result!
The card is also a big thank you to our lovely Sam (Pootles) for being such a fabulous Stampin' Up! upline and for inviting some of the team to join in with each month's challenge.
It's also a thank you to all of you for visiting my blog and to those of you who have also left comments.
I've loved seeing the gorgeous ideas that my team mates have come up with and am always amazed at how many different ideas can come from 4 or 5 people all with the same stamp set!
I can't wait to see what our September Pootlers come up with and what stamp set they have!
So all that remains for me to say for now is thank you and please visit again soon - I might even challenge myself to choose a stamp set each month from now and come up with a different design each week. So watch this space ......
I hope to see you again soon and, as always, happy crafting!
Karen
