This month, the template for our sketch was set by our Anna. It was certainly a challenge, but I had my idea come into my head much quicker than some previous projects!
I knew I wanted to have a Christmas theme for this one and I knew I wanted to incorporate gingerbread men, but that was it!
So, again, I decided to sit down, look at my cardstock and my Designer Series Paper, and let them tell me what today's end result was going to be.
This is the outcome - a gingerbread man Christmas note card!
I cheated a little bit with the 'oval' shape as I didn't want to use an oval punch with these sadly now being discontinued, so I thought that my gingerbread man punched out with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch was close enough!
The only bit I'm not sure about is that he ended up standing almost on another gingerbread man's head! But if you decide to 'go with the creative flow, these things happen 😄
For this notecard, I used one of Stampin' Up!'s ready-made notecards in Crumb Cake. These measure 5" x 3.25".
I added a mat using a sheet from the Candy Cane Lane DSP pack (as are all the DSP parts in this project). This was slightly smaller at 4.75" x 3.25"
I then cut the bottom piece of DSP using a very technical term and precise measuring technique called "make sure it's big enough to get all of that gingerbread man in"!
The two vertical strips of DSP both measure 3" x 1.25" and are simply overlapped and placed as per the template. No precise measuring was involved!
I stamped my gingerbread man - from the 'Cookie Cutter Christmas' photopolymer stamp set* - on to Crumb Cake cardstock using Crumb Cake ink and cut him out using the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch. I coloured his eyes using the Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker from the twin set on page 5 of the current Autumn-Winter Stampin' Up! catalogue (details in the product list below) and added a couple of the smallest Basic Pearls to highlight his buttons.
I stuck him to the card using Dimensionals to raise him up a bit and add that bit of dimension which I always like to have in my projects where possible.
* I ordered the Cookie Cutter stamp set and punch as a bundle, which is cheaper than buying these separately. Again, I'll add the items AND the bundle to the product list at the bottom.
The 'stars' in the top corner on my card are Basic Rhinestones to add that always-required bit of bling!
I hope you like this card and that you will carry on visiting all our other crafty friends at their blogs, using the buttons below.
